Management Essentials
Monash University is a leading global university renowned for its research, innovation, and impact. Recognising that its greatest asset lies in its people, Monash is deeply committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth for all staff.
In 2020 Monash University partnered with Tonka Learning to design and deliver a five-month, five-module flagship Management Essentials program for academic and professional services managers. Since then, Management Essentials has been rolled out multiple times each year and continues to be a popular and highly regarded leadership program for staff across the university.
Leveraging our extensive expertise in the higher education sector, we created a tailored and highly experiential learning program with topics focussing on managing self, leading and influencing others, driving operational effectiveness, managing performance and leveraging personal strengths.
To support and elevate the learning experience, we also developed a cohesive digital learning platform. Through our digital hub, participants engage with a variety of pre and post-workshop materials including diagnostic tools, articles, eLearning modules, summary videos and podcasts. With a focus on continuous improvement, each year has seen enhancements in our digital hub, including the addition of a learning journal, goal tracking and access to personal diagnostic reports.
Since 2020, Management Essentials has seen over 320 leaders successfully complete the program. Our most recent data indicates that 88% of learners regard the experience to be a worthwhile investment of their time. In addition, the success of the program has led to multiple intra-team rollouts, including Enterprise & Engagement, Faculty of Education and Finance.
Management Essentials continues to flourish thanks to the unwavering commitment of both Monash University and Tonka Leaning to deliver comprehensive and impactful learning experiences. Equipping professional and academic staff with a strong foundation in leadership principles, the program serves as a springboard for their ever-evolving leadership journeys.
