Leadership Academy
Each year Tonka Learning is invited to co-design a Leadership Academy for one or more clients, a 3–5-year plan to develop talent and build organisational capabilities.
It’s a serious piece of work which starts with understanding an organisation’s strategy, its comparative advantages, the needs of different stakeholders and the organisation’s current development landscape.
And then the build begins! Working iteratively with clients, Tonka Learning sets a clear vision for the academy, designs a learning ecosystem that identifies pathways for different cohorts and identifies the right infrastructure (resources and digital) to best support. A strategic discussion on measurement, communication and marketing comes next.
A final (successful) pitch is made to executives, and a phased implementation approach commences.
Establishing a Leadership Academy has many direct benefits such as staff engagement, retention, internal mobility and business performance. But it does even more than this. It gives credibility to building capability, where staff buy-in because they understand how development aligns with organisational strategy. It also expands the L&D team beyond the HR function as staff start to understand that professional development is everyone’s responsibility.
