Australian Football League
Sport
The Australian Football League is Australia’s largest and most successful sporting body in Australia, working at grassroots levels across metropolitan and country areas all the way through to their elite competition.
Tonka Learning was invited by the Australian Football League to build the capability of it’s General Managers and Regional Managers across a number of leadership and functional capabilities.
Examples of these capabilities included:
Stakeholder Engagement. Working across a diverse portfolio of stakeholders (internal and community based) to build win-win relationships.
Leading Change. Strategies and tools to lead change at both individual and organisational levels.
Principled Negotiation. Skills and strategies to maximise value and strengthen relationships in all negotiations, from simple one-person negotiations to negotiations involving multiple stakeholders.
Short Courses
In addition to this work we were invited to coach senior leaders, facilitate intra-team workshops on building high-performing teams and develop a leadership capability framework to guide future leadership development.
The process for developing this framework involved extensive stakeholder consultation with General Managers and Regional Managers. The difference between this framework and most other organisations? A much greater emphasis on business/finance acumen, connecting with community and influencing stakeholders without formal authority.
