Adairs Academy
Adairs Limited is Australasia’s largest omni channel specialty retailer of home furnishings, home furniture and home decoration products with three vertically integrated brands – Adairs, Focus on Furniture and Mocka.
With a long history of leadership development with Adairs via our CEO Michael Tonkin, we took a call from Mark Ronan, CEO and were asked to elevate their people development offering in stores and at their national support office. Over the ensuing 12-months together we created the Adairs Academy.
The design phase included stakeholder interviews with all executives, State Managers, Human Resources and representatives from most functions across the business. A high-level strategy was then built around four key pillars: Leadership, Business, Values and Induction, supported by a resource plan.
Some of our early focus wins included working with:
Melbourne Business School to support senior leadership development.
Retail Operations to transform the annual Store Manager conference of 200+ Store Managers.
Retail to create ongoing leadership development for Store Managers, facilitated by Area Managers in the ‘flow of work’.
HR to create an online platform to provide technical, industry and behavioural skills uplift for all staff and leaders. And to also co-create and facilitate a 5-module blended leadership program for managers working at the national support office.
And more recently, Retail to support a major change initiative, moving away from a team-based incentive only strategy, including a keynote presentation at their annual conference.
